The History of Park Manor
Park Manor began its storied history when Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr. saw a need in our community for high-quality senior retirement living options. Together with Hugh Knox, a moderator of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee, and Dr. Thomas Barr, a former pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, the team joined forces and moved forward with the project. In 1961, ground was broken and the J.A. Jones Construction company began building our innovative community. One year later, on July 1, 1962, we welcomed our first residents. Thanks to a generous donation by Almeda Bozeman Johnson, and the efforts of our dedicated team, we became fully occupied.
In 1970, we took steps to make additions and developments to the property, such as the Blakemore Center (our on-site auditorium), larger office space and a larger dining room and kitchen area.
