Abe’s Garden Club
A Hearthstone Memory Support Program in Nashville
Abe’s Garden Club is day program for individuals in the early to mid stages of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia who are living at home and may benefit from the exceptional personalized care and world-class memory care engagement activities. The program promotes a unique and engaging experience through socialization, education, and innovative techniques by offering best-in-class, outcome-based, and research-driven engagement rooted in Hearthstone’s I’m Still Here® approach.
The Club is offered onsite at Abe’s Garden Community.
Who Benefits?
People Living with Memory Loss
For those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, The Club provides an opportunity to be social and to participate in activities such as music and exercise programs. While coming to a regular day program is often at first an adjustment for the person with dementia, our members quickly adapt and end up looking forward to coming. They enjoy meeting new people, creating new bonds, eating healthy (and delicious) meals, and participating in fun and meaningful activities.
Family Caregivers
The Club offers full-time caregivers a much-needed break. While their loved ones are at our program, caregivers have time to rest, run errands, or finish other tasks. For caregivers who work during the day, The Club is a helpful solution in balancing a job with caregiving duties.
I’m Still Here® Approach
We incorporate Hearthstone Institute’s exclusive I’m Still Here® approach into The Club programming. It’s the same approach and philosophy we incorporate into the daily lives of residents living full-time in our Memory Support Center of Excellence. I’m Still Here® is a life-changing approach to Alzheimer’s care and memory support that links purposeful engagement with enhanced quality of life. With I’m Still Here®, our team gains a deep understanding of each member’s personal story, strengths and preferences to create uplifting experiences.
We encourage member-led activities and build our engagement based on what members want to do each day. On any given day, members of The Club enjoy a variety of purposeful, fun engagement programming. Some of our members’ favorite activities include:
- Art and creativity exploration
- History discussions
- Exercise, chair yoga and meditation
- Brain games
- Sing-alongs to reminiscent songs
- Flower arranging
- Drum circles
- Writing greeting cards
- Book club readings
- Pet therapy
- Music therapy
- and so much more!
Our Team
Our team receives special dementia-care training, so they fully understand the behaviors common with Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss, including wandering, incontinence, hallucinations and speech difficulties.
